Watch this video greeting from Dan to get to know more about him!
Dan Wilson is a Cincinnati-based guitar player with a passion for teaching. Dan has been playing guitar since he was ten years old. His passion for the guitar started after hearing music from the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Rush. It was the rock group KISS, however, that ultimately inspired Dan to pick up the guitar. After spending his birthday money on an acoustic guitar, his grandmother bought him a few lessons as a birthday gift thinking that he’d probably take a few lessons and that’d be the end of that. Little did she know those few lessons would lead Dan to his life’s calling of pursuing music as a vocation.
With that, Dan took lessons all the way through his high school years. Combining his private lesson study with offerings from his local high school, he embarked on an enriching journey to learn as much as he could about music theory as well as different musical styles. By his senior year, Dan knew he wanted to study music further. Having always planned to go to college, it seemed logical that, given his calling, he would choose to major in music.
With that, Dan’s private lesson teacher at the time assisted him in preparing for auditions. After auditioning at the College Of Mount St. Joseph, now Mount St. Joseph University, Dan was accepted and would begin his five-year journey. At the Mount, he studied classical guitar, piano, jazz guitar, music history, music theory, and many other important topics, as well as gaining years of invaluable performance experience.
In 2013, Dan graduated from the Mount with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music with a concentration in Guitar. During and after college Dan taught at a local music store where he instructed hundreds of students in how to successfully play the guitar as well as other instruments.
Dan now resides on the West Side of Cincinnati, happily married to his wife Becky. Together they have a daughter Charlotte, whom they adore.
